Kitchen Bathroom and Renovation SWMS Pack

Awareness-level controls for workers who may encounter asbestos-containing materials (ACM) - identifying likely ACM, using the asbestos register, and responding to suspected or disturbed material. This SWMS does not authorise removal.

Strip-out of bathrooms and kitchens - removal of fixtures, cabinetry, tiles, linings and floor coverings ahead of renovation, including ACM checks, services isolation and waste handling.

Installation of kitchen, bathroom and joinery cabinets - carcasses, benchtops, wall units and appliances interface.

Installation of cabinetry benchtops (laminate, timber, stainless steel) and splashbacks, including scribing, cutting and fitting. Engineered stone work is prohibited (banned 2024).

Electrical work in existing and occupied buildings under renovation - alterations, rewiring, board upgrades.

Removal of carpet, vinyl, tiles and adhesive beds from floors, including ACM vinyl identification, mechanical scraping and surface preparation.

Handling and installation of glass - shopfronts, partitions, mirrors and glazed doors - including cutting, transport and fixing.

Installation of plasterboard wall and ceiling linings, including sheet handling, fixing, and setting/sanding.

Plumbing rough-in and fit-off during construction - in-wall/in-slab pipework, fixtures and commissioning.

Internal strip-out/soft demolition of fit-out, linings, ceilings, services and fixtures without disturbing structural elements.

Wall and floor tiling - substrate preparation, adhesive and grout work, cutting (wet saw and grinder), laying and finishing in wet areas and general areas.

Waterproofing of internal wet areas - showers, bathrooms, laundries - including priming, membrane application (water and solvent based), bond breakers and flood testing.

Landscaping work in occupied homes - gardens, structures and maintenance with residents on site.
