Surface Preparation and Sanding

Awareness-level controls for workers who may encounter asbestos-containing materials (ACM) - identifying likely ACM, using the asbestos register, and responding to suspected or disturbed material. This SWMS does not authorise removal.

Operation of elevated work platforms (boom lifts, cherrypickers, scissor lifts) for work at height, including set-up, elevated work and stowing.

Selection and use of ladders, platform ladders, podium steps and mobile access platforms for short-duration work at height.

All painting and decorating works - preparation and sanding (incl. lead paint), interior and exterior brush/roller application, spraying, work at height, wallpapering and protective coatings. This single SWMS covers the full painting scope for contractors who do not require task-specific documents.

Preparation and coating/encapsulation of asbestos-cement roofs - the roof is coated in place, never abraded or pressure-washed.

External and high-level painting - facades, eaves, gutters, ceilings, stairwells and roofs - from ladders, trestles, scaffolds and EWPs.
